ABOUT US
We are Andrea and Matt Ivey, we have a passion for kids, fitness, and fun. We both graduated together from Humboldt State University with our degrees and recreation administration with minors and business. In 2010 we found in Adventure Recreation (now known as Fliped Academy) as we saw the increasing need for a fun athletic program for today's youth. With electronic screen time on the rise in physical activity on the decline, we feel it is vital to keep our kids active and healthy. We bring a well-rounded, highly instructional, and organize program. We are excited to share a passion with you and develop lasting relationships in our community.
Meet The Team
Andrea Ivey
Owner
Coach Andrea has been involved in sports gymnastics for 33 years, 20 of which she had spent coaching. With a dream to own a gym since she was nine years old, andrea attended Humboldt State University in order degree in recreation administration. Then, in 2010 the first adventure recreation was born in Ukiah California as a mobile climbing wall. Over the course of two years the company grew into a full gymnasium. And then in 2017 Andrea, and her family, and the adventure recreation moved to Petaluma California, and found their home. Today Coach Andrea enjoys creating a community of athletes and their families. If you know Coach Andrea, you know she's always ready to have a laugh and gets away with her athletes, daughter, son, and friends. Be on the lookout for Andrea riding across Sonoma State campus with her kids enjoying music at Brewsters.
Chelsee Spangler
Manager
Coach Chelsee is a proud Petaluma native who grew up in a competitive gymnast. After retiring from the sport, Chelsee became not only a coach gymnastics, but also trains adults. Chelsee earned a nationally recognized group training certification and set out to motivate others. Along the way, she came to adventure recreation to play with her niece and nephews but never left. Today, Chelsee continues to practice her skills and learn new ones all while passionately improving her coaching style. Coach Chelsee's favorite skill is to do a round off back handspring back layout with a full twist! If you're in the right place at the right time you may catch Chelsee hiking the hills of Petaluma or kayaking down the Petaluma river.
