HOMESCHOOL DROP IN PROGRAM

DROP IN NINJA GYM & MAKERSPACE

CURRICULUM SUPPORT AND EXTRA CURRICULARS

CURIOSITY

Encourage children to nurture their natural curiosity and develop a love for learning. Inspire them to ask questions, explore new ideas, and discover the world around them. Foster an environment that sparks their imagination and encourages a lifelong thirst for knowledge.

COLLABORATION

Not only does teamwork help build communication and leadership skills, but it also gives children different perspectives and outlooks on situations. Through team-based activities, children may be tasked with critical thinking and examining situations through lenses they may have never thought of before!

CREATIVITY

Foster a spirit of creativity and innovation in children. Encourage them to think outside the box, express themselves through various forms of art, and find unique solutions to problems. Provide opportunities for imaginative play, arts and crafts, and open-ended projects that allow them to explore their creative potential.

Wednesdays are currently running, and we have waiting lists for Mon/Tue/Thur We are vendors with a few schools and gladly accept funds through Heartwood and Compass and are in the process of becoming vendors through Pathways.

Drop in's are two hours long! Either 10:30 - 12:30 or 1-3pm. We also have the availbilty to do both and sign up for a community lunch 12:30 - 1pm. We only charge the for the kids. Parents are welcome to come and lead their kids through activities or curriculum, or just hang out and do their own work while the kids do their work or creativity. Drop off is available for children 4 years and older. We have a coach on staff to suppervise and give some directional help. Kids should be set up by parents on what they are doing before leaving. Clean up is a HUGE help. Let's help our learners get in the habit of putting away everything exactly how we found it.

Who is behind starting a makerspace?

Image

Andrea Ivey

Andrea's passion for teaching and love for working with children has been a guiding force throughout her journey. As a former gymnast, Andrea's innate connection with young minds ignited her pursuit of a career in education. She began her college journey in Liberal Studies but swiftly found her true calling in Recreation Administration. Realizing that traditional classroom settings and standardized testing limited her ability to teach creatively, Andrea embraced an out-of-the-box approach to education.

Driven by her conviction that learning should transcend physical boundaries, Andrea has shifted her focus to creating a vibrant makerspace where kids can access a wealth of tools and resources. Her goal is to provide a collaborative environment where children can work alongside their peers, fostering a strong sense of community and shared learning. Andrea believes that hands-on and project-based learning are essential for instilling practical life skills and inspiring creativity. With her at the helm, Makerspace Creativity Lab is a testament to her dedication to offering a dynamic, inclusive space where every child can thrive and embark on a journey of discovery and growth.
